Recently, our dear SM Lai has a riddle for some of us.
Believe me, it isn't lame!

There was a young man on a bus. At the particular bus stop, an old lady board the bus. She was rather blind and couldn't see clearly. So on the bus, she thought the young man's hand was the handle of the bus. And happily, she begins to pinch the "handle". In order to prevent the old woman from pinching him, the young man did something intelligent.
Now, what did the young man do?

A man worked for a high-security institution, and one day he went in to work only to find that he could not log in to his computer terminal. His password wouldn't work. Then he remembered that the passwords are reset every month for security purposes. So he went to his boss and they had this conversation:

Man-"Hey boss, my password is out of date."
Boss-"Yes, that's right. The password is different, but if you listen carefully you should be able to figure out the new one: It has the same amount of letters as your old password, but only four of the letters are the same."
Man: "Thanks boss."

With that, he went and correctly logged into his station.

The Wisest Son
Mystery teasers are little stories where you need to figure out what happened based on the given clues.
Answer: The son had showed his father a match. Whenever he lit the match, it filled the entire room with light, yet it was still small enough to fit into his pocket.

One day, a father went to his three sons and told them that he would die soon and he needed to decide which one of them to give his property to. He decided to give them all a test.
He said, "Go to the market my sons, and purchase something that is large enough to fill my bedroom, but small enough to fit in your pocket. From this I will decide which of you is the wisest and worthy enough to inherit my land."
So they all went to the market and bought something that they thought would fill the room, yet was still small enough that they could fit into their pockets. Each son came back with a different item. The father told his sons to come into his bedroom one at a time and try to fill up his bedroom with whatever they had purchased.
The first son came in and put some pieces of cloth that he had bought and laid them end to end across the room, but it barely covered any of the floor.
Then the second son came in and laid some hay, that he had purchased, on the floor but there was only enough to cover half of the floor.
The third son came in and showed his father what he had purchased and how it could fill the entire room yet still fit into his pocket.
The father replied, "You are truly the wisest of all and you shall receive my property."
What was it that the son had showed to his father?

Answer: The mathematician made a small fence around himself and declared himself to be on the outside.

A farmer challenges an engineer, a physicist, and a mathematician to fence off the largest amount of area using the least amount of fence.
The engineer made his fence in a circle and said it was the most efficient.
The physicist made a long line and said that the length was infinite. Then he said that fencing half of the Earth was the best.

It was an average day. Troti (The ruler of the Inspectors) was walking down the street. He heard a gunshot and ran towards it. A nearby restaurant owner had gotten shot. He ran inside. The owner had left a suicide note on top of the gun, which was on the table. He had a bullet wound in his head. The cops came in and said it was an obvious suicide, the reason being his restaurant was failing and about to be bankrupt. They had his suicide note, in handwriting that looked like his. But Troti wasn't sure.
What changed his suspicion about the suicide?

Cut 'n' Paste
Science brain teasers require understanding of the physical or biological world and the laws that govern it.
Answer: You will have 3 pieces of paper after the cut. It won't matter which direction you make the cut with the scissors - you'll end up with 3 pieces of paper. Don't believe it? Now go get the paper and scissors and actually do this - you'll see!

This one is a "mental" exercise - don't use paper and scissors - just imagine in your mind:
Take a sheet of paper - any size that you happened to have (remember, just imagine this paper). Now fold this sheet of paper in half and now fold it in half again, at right angles to the first fold. Now you have four thicknesses of paper. Now imagine you use scissors and cut through all four thicknesses, right down the middle of the paper, parallel to the first fold you made. Now, imagine, how many pieces of paper do you have now? Don't get paper and scissors to solve this one - try to picture this in your mind!

Logic puzzles require you to think. You will have to be logical in your reasoning.
Answer:Flip any switch you want. Wait for about 5-10 minutes to let the bulb heat up. Flip that same switch off, and another one on. Go check the light. If it's off and hot, it was the first switch, if it's on it was the second and if it's cold and off, it was the last one.

In front of you are three light switches. Only one does anything, and it turns on the light downstairs. From here you can't see the light, and it makes no sound. You must determine which switch operates the light, BUT you can only go check it once.
How do you figure out which switch is for the light?
Hint: Patience is a virtue.

Science brain teasers require understanding of the physical or biological world and the laws that govern it.
Answer: First, the waiter stuck the match into the lemon wedge, so that it would stand straight. Then he lit the match, and put it in the middle of the plate with the lemon. Then, he placed the glass upside-down over the match. As the flame used up the oxygen in the glass, it created a small vacuum, which sucked in the water through the space between the glass and the plate. Thus, the waiter got the water into the glass without touching or moving the plate. You can try this experiment at home with appropriate supervision.

A man in a restaurant asked a waiter for a juice glass, a dinner plate, water, a match, and a lemon wedge. The man poured enough water onto the plate to cover it. "If you can get the water on the plate into this glass without touching or moving this plate, I will give you $100," the man said. "You can use the match and lemon to do this." A few minutes later, the waiter walked away with $100 in his pocket.
How did the waiter get the water into the glass?
Hint: The glass will be upside-down when the water is in it. Revise your chapter on Heat.

Answer:He waits until night time and then goes through the first door.

A man is trapped in a room. The room has only two possible exits: two doors. Through the first door there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters. Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon.

Math brain teasers require computations to solve.br> Answer:2: At each bridge you are required to give half of your cakes, and you receive one back. Which leaves you with 2 cakes after every bridge.

You are on your way to visit your Grandma, who lives at the end of the valley. It's her birthday, and you want to give her the cakes you've made. Between your house and her house, you have to cross 7 bridges, and as it goes in the land of make believe, there is a troll under every bridge! Each troll, quite rightly, insists that you pay a troll toll. Before you can cross their bridge, you have to give them half of the cakes you are carrying, but as they are kind trolls, they each give you back a single cake.
How many cakes do you have to leave home with to make sure that you arrive at Grandma's with exactly 2 cakes?
